Image result for Tyronn Lue Reportedly Joining Clippers as Doc Rivers' Top Assistant

Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue has agreed to join the Los Angeles Clippers coaching staff as Doc Rivers’ lead assistant, reportedly.

Lue coached the Cavaliers for three full seasons from 2015-18, a run that included winning the 2016 NBA title. The Cavaliers fired him after an 0-6 start to the 2018-19 season.

Lue was in talks with the Los Angeles Lakers for their head coaching position this offseason before negotiations reportedly broke down over the Lakers’ offer.

Lue was reportedly being unhappy with the three-year offer that coincided with the end of LeBron James’ contract and wasn’t commensurate with the five-year deal standard for experienced NBA coaches.

Now Lue will man the sideline with the rival Clippers with his coaching mentor Rivers, who gave him his first assistant coaching job with the Boston Celtics in 2011.
